A dear friend sent me the figure of Saint Francis from Giotto's famous masterpiece "Saint Francis Preaching to the Birds" many years ago and I incorporated it (with some tweeks) into my design that included her then therapy dog, a Golden Retriever who everyone loved so much. My friend has since written a beautiful book about her dogs over the years (sadly not available to the public)
